Both the “market master” (our on-site coordinator) and I are new this year to the City of Manassas Farmer’s Market. While it’s certainly been a learning curve for us both, we are excited to bring a new perspective to the market. I practically have the “What’s In Season?”

Virginia Calendar memorized now, whereas before I signed on as the market coordinator, I could give you a rough timeline of when things came into season.  It’s both fun and overwhelming to learn so much about farming and produce.

Before the season begins, a group of athletes native to Prince William County saw the need for sports camps that engage youth, and for camps that are led by talent that once played in the area. For Rickey Lewis, Chad Dunlap and Rasheed McClaude all, the product of their creativity and collaboration was “Rising Starz,” a speed and agility football camp set to take place Saturday and Sunday, July 20 and 21 at the Hylton Boys & Girls Club in Dale City.

NOKESVILLE, Va. — The water is too high for construction crews to complete scheduled work on a bridge over the Cedar Run in this weekend in Prince William County.

A portion of Aden Road was to be closed this weekend, from Parkgate Drive to Orlando Road in Nokesville, so crews could continue to process of replacing the bridge  But heavy rains overnight have swollen the Cedar Run and put water levels higher than normal, said Virginia Department of Transportation spokeswoman Joan Morris.
