 ·         The Greater Prince William Community Health Center is celebrating National Health Center Week on August 13-15 from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. each day.  We have an urgent need for volunteers every day to assist with free health screenings such as mammograms, checks for cholesterol, anemia, diabetes, heart disease, depression, vision and dental to name just a few.  The event will include free car seats, lunch, and music and fun children’s entertainment. So as you can see, your volunteer effort will make a huge impact on thousands of individuals participating in this super event. MANASSAS, Va. — Soroptimist International of Manassas installed officers at the July meeting. Deborah Mackes, South Atlantic Region Secretary performed the ceremony.

OCCOQUAN, Va. — More than 80 people on Sunday will see Prince William County’s four towns from the seat of their bicycle.

The first-ever “Tour of the Towns — Tour of Prince William” organized by Occoquan Mayor Earnie Porta has closed it’s registration books, and the response to the idea of touring the country by bike has caught on.


Pueraria Montana, also known as Kudzu, is an extremely fast growing vine that can grow as much as 60 feet in one season.

I stopped to take a picture of a huge growth of these vines along Austin Run Boulevard in Stafford and a man stopped and asked me, “Why take pictures of that stuff, it grows all over here?”

GAINESVILLE, Va. — What do you get when you mix a major construction project and Jimmy Buffet? On the weekend of August 16 through 18, it’s a recipe for road delays.

Virginia Department of Transportation officials working to improve the intersection at U.S. 29 and Linton Hall Road, where a series new bridges will carry traffic on Linton Hall Road over U.S. 29 and a railroad, told drivers Wednesday to soon expect major delays in the area.
