WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Police were called to Belmont Bay on Tuesday after a boater was found unconscious in his craft.

The boater bumped his head and fell unconscious. Someone called 911 when his boat on the Occoquan River in Woodbridge drifted to shore and spotted the boater inside the craft, said Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok. A helicopter was called to take the man to an area hospital.


WOODBRIDGE, Va. — It’s a café in a high school in Woodbridge that serves breakfast and pastries to students, faculty, and school employees each morning.

The bistro located inside Freedom High School is student run and offers an escape from the trapping of other area restaurants.


DUMFRIES, Va. — The Dumfries Cares program that provides a safe place for children and teenagers to get help with homework and character building will remain in place for 2014.

A new $93,000 grant has been awarded to Dumfries’ Department of Community Services to keep the program afloat.


DUMFRIES, Va. — Dumfries Town officials will meet Tuesday with their county supervisor, Maureen Caddigan.

The periodic meeting is set to take place at 6 p.m. at Williams Ordinary on U.S. 1 in Dumfries. Town officials are expected to discuss issues like an ethanol facility to be built on Cockpit Point Road, roadway improvements to the intersection of U.S. 1 and Va. 234 ahead of the Potomac Shores neighborhood that is to bring some 3,000 new homes to eastern Prince William County, and update on a new county library at Montclair, and an update on Fuller Heights Park near the entrance to Quantico Marine Corps Base.
