QUANTICO, Va. — Officials at Quantico report someone may be trying to get unauthorized access to the Navy’s secured internet service, or NMCI.

In a statement, base officials said some users have received a phone call from the would-be hackers warning them that their computers could crash, that remote access to their machines will be required to stave off any problems.


STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — A police pursuit in Stafford today ended with the suspect bumming a ride from a customer at a corner market.

A small compact car was spotted by a sheriff’s deputy speeding, headed west on Courthouse Road near Colonial Forge High School. When the driver of the car crossed a double line, passed a tractor trailer, and continued speeding, the deputy turned around and pursued the driver about 9:30 a.m., said authorities. 


STAFFORD, Va. — Authorities in Stafford have never found anything malicious or dangerous in children’s Halloween candy, but they’ll check it for free, anyway.

The Stafford Sheriff’s Office will once again be on hand at the county courthouse tonight, as they are each year at Halloween, to place trick-or-treat candy on a conveyor belt and run it through an x-ray machine.
