NORTH STAFFORD, Va. — Stafford will ring in its 350th anniversary on Saturday with free ice skating and a day-long festival at Stafford Marketplace shopping center.

And free ice skating may be something everyone will want to take advantage of as temperatures on Saturday aren’t expected to climb out of the 30s.


WOODBRIDGE, Va. — There’s a new millionaire in Woodbridge.

A $1 million winning ticket was sold at a 7-Eleven on Occoquan Road as part of the Virginia Lottery’s New Year’s Millionaires Raffle. It was one of three million-dollar tickets sold in the raffle – the others were sold at an Exxon near Winchester and another at an Apple Market in South Boston.

At approximately 1:30PM on December 22, 2013 Manassas City Police responded to “Don Julio Restaurant” located at 9007 Centreville Rd for a report of an assault. According to the victim, he was sitting at the bar inside the restaurant when a male subject approached him and brandished a firearm. Two more male subjects then struck him from behind and a fight ensued. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Several area cab companies will give free rides up to $30 tonight as part of the SoberRide program.

The rides will be offered for those 21-years-old and older between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. to offer New Year’s revelers a safe ride home. The program also helps to keep drunken drivers off the roads, according to the program’s sponsor Washington Regional Alcohol Program.
