Could Prince William County’s very first town center become an arts destination?
Tacketts Mill in Lake Ridge, a lakeside development that took its architectural cues from buildings in Colonial Willamsburg when it was built in the late 1970s, is a mix of traditional retail shops and largely vacant office spaces anchored by a Safeway grocery.
Today I am ashamed to admit I saw “RoboCop,” the 2014 model with all the fancy upgrades. Not to be confused with Paul Verhoeven’s “Robocop” from 1987 that came out at the same time as Windows 2.0 and worked just about as well.
In this reboot, we find Officer Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman from “Safe House”) trying to get illegal guns off the street of his beloved Detroit. He is shocked to find some corrupt cops right in his own department. I could make a reference to Bogart and “Casablanca” here, but only my daughters would get it.

We’ve now heard from Clear Channel Outdoor regarding the fallen billboard.
New Cingular Wireless, a communications business, is seeking a lease on Stone River Water Tank in Stafford. The company is seeking to rent the property and use the water tower to transmit and receive communication signals.
If permitted, New Cingular Wireless will hold a five-year lease of the property, and pay $2,850 monthly for the first year, with a 3% rent increase each following year.
Closings, cancellations and delays will continue into Friday.
Schools
We are beginning to see closures come in.
Prince William County Public Schools are closed Thursday. They posted the following statement:
Those winter storm warnings aren’t going anywhere fast. They’ll stay posted through 5 a.m. Friday as, yes, another round of snow is expected to hit the Mid Atlantic tonight.
An additional two to four inches of snow could fall before 2 a.m., and it’s coming from a another low pressure system making its way north form the Gulf Coast.

The snow that has accumulated overnight shows no sign of stopping, as the National Weather Service has extended the Winter Storm Warning for the region into 5 a.m. Friday.
With accumulations of 12-18 inches in many parts of Stafford County, conditions will continue to be dangerous on roads, and power outages are still expected.
