Dumfries has taken another step to a more open government.
The town is now archiving videos of its meetings on its public website. A message posted on the town’s website today instructs viewers how to access videos of previous Town Council meetings, starting with the most recent Feb. 18 meeting.

All lanes of northbound Interstate 95 have re-opened at mile marker 144, just north of Exit 143/Aquia and Garrisonville in Stafford County.
Due to high water, Harrell Road (Rt. 623) will be closed to Stafford residents at the Claiborne Run. Harrell Road is located between Rt. 627 and Rt. 607.
As the snow begins to melt throughout the region, other areas may experience flooding and high water.

To continue celebrating its 350-year anniversary and rich history, the 350th Blue Ribbon Committee has released a commemorative coin, which will be sold at the Olde Virginia in North Stafford.
Local artist Jason Breidenbach was the designer of the coin, and winner of the coin design contest for the Stafford 350 site, which was announced this past summer.
Prince William County residents could see an $85 annual increase in their tax bills next year.
Officials on the Board of County Supervisors got their first look at the county’s proposed FY 2015 nearly $1 billion budget which takes effect July 1, as proposed by County Executive Melissa Peacor.
The Stafford County Board of Supervisors voted to amend a previous ordinance in the County Code that will now halt the proposed construction of a waste-to-energy plant in Stafford.
The waste-to-energy plant was to be built on leased land where the regional landfill in Stafford is currently located on Eskimo Hill Road. The plant would have changed how the County would handle some of their waste disposal, using a process of pyrolosis, which heats waste to convert it into electricity.

Rob Clapper was praised this morning by Prince William Chamber of Commerce Chairman Bill White for his service to the organization.
It was the first time residents heard from Dumfries Town Manager Daniel Taber in over a month.
Last night, Dumfries officials read a statement from the police chief turned top administrator who has been missing from town hall since he slipped and fell on a patch o ice back on Jan. 10. Taber has spent time in Inova Fairfax Hospital recovering from his injuries, and in his letter he also states he has been in close contact with town staff charged with doing the town’s business on a daily basis.
