MANASSAS, Va. — The regional Forty Under 40 Awards held its first nominating “Cocktails and Cupcakes” after hours event at Okras in Manassas. DUMFRIES, Va. — The construction of the first community garden at Ginn Memorial Park in Dumfries is well underway.
The town’s Parks and Recreation Commission chose the new park on Graham Park Road to be the space for the garden, which will feature 26 plots that residents can use to plant everything from squash to tomatoes, cabbage to corn. Organizers say they want a mix of vegetables at the garden to help teach residents and children about the importance of growing their own food.

At approximately 10: 30 a.m., fire and rescue units were dispatched to a structure fire in a two-story single family home located in the 13600 block of Dumfries Road in Dumfries.
Upon arrival, fire and rescue units discovered fire on the first floor of the home. Firefighters extinguished the fire and checked for extension; no further extension was found.

Stafford County officials have good news for commuters: the wreck involving a tractor trailer on Interstate 95 north at mile post 150 in Prince William County has been cleared from the highway as of 12:40 p.m.
