MANASSAS, Va. — On April 26. Hugh and Kerry Ickrath of Manassas held an open house at 9300 Prescott Avenue.

The home, which is over 100 years old, was just days away from demolition when the couple and a few investors bought it via short sale last year. Sadly, the home had been deteriorating since the mid 1980s and was eventually boarded up. Ickrath and several neighbors worked tirelessly to save the historic building.


LAKE RIDGE, Va. — On Saturday, April 26, 2014, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) held the unique “Taste of Africa” event at their Woodbridge Stake Center off Old Bridge Road.

As guests came in, they were greeted by volunteers, given name tags, and directed to explore fifteen African countries in class rooms around the building.

The largest institution of higher learning in Virginia is making some changes as to how it enrolls students.

Starting this fall, new students at all campuses at Northern Virginia Community College, also known as NOVA, will be required to take placement tests and attend a new student orientation seminar. They’ll also have to register and pay for all of their classes upfront, as students will no longer be able to pay late and still attend classes.

Work on several projects along the thoroughfare linking Interstate 95 with neighborhoods with street names laid out in alphabetical order from Ashdale, Barksdale, to Princedale to name a few, are already underway or about to begin.
