ACTS of Prince William and Image Church are partnering with the Potomac Nationals to host the 4th Annual IWALK for ACTS on Saturday, October 18 at Pfitzner Stadium (7 County Complex Ct, Woodbridge). Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the 5K walk starts at 10 a.m. Registration is $20/individual or $50/family. Proceeds benefit ACTS of Prince William County. Victor Manuel Contreras, 29, of Manassas was sentenced to serve 60 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release, for obstructing and interfering with the enforcement of federal child sex trafficking laws.

U.S. Attorney Dana J. Boente of the Eastern District of Virginia, Assistant Attorney General Leslie R. Caldwell of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division,  and Special Agent in Charge Clark E. Settle of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) made the announcement.  The sentence was imposed by U.S. District Judge Leonie M. Brinkema of the Eastern District of Virginia.


For the first time, I was in the state of Virginia on Tax-Free Back to School weekend and made use of the time to save. True, we went into Wal-Mart with lesser ambitions, but what Mom can walk past an aisle of school supplies advertised at 50 percent off and buy one get one free? It didn’t matter to me that we were in Williamsburg or staying at a campground or that we’d come in for batteries and a bag of ice. I came, I saw, I shopped.

This school year ninth and tenth grade students attending Stonewall Jackson, Gar-field and Freedom high schools in Prince William County will be receiving tablets for educational use.

A.J. Phillips, Supervisor of Instructional Technology for Prince William County Schools, believes the tablets will be “a real benefit for the students.”

STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — At 150 degrees, the enzymes inside begin to break down and sugars start to separate from the grains. What remains is poured into a boil kettle where the batch begins to boil at 210 degrees. Hops are added for flavor and then removed.


DALE CITY, Va. – On August 7, police arrested two male suspects, one of whom was struck with the handgun the night before, for waving a firearm at a man tied to the incident. During the investigation, police arrested him too and another male accomplice for striking the suspect with the handgun and stealing the firearm from previous night.
