MANASSAS, Va. — On Aug. 22-24, the City of Manassas will host the Manassas Civil War Weekend at the Manassas Museum, Liberia Plantation and venues throughout Historic Downtown Manassas. Visitors will experience living history, Civil War encampments, historians, and attractions for all ages.
The annual Manassas Civil War Weekend grew out of the popular Sesquicentennial of the Civil War commemorations, which attracted tens of thousands of visitors to the area from across the country. This year’s commemoration will bring to life military, civilian, and African-American experiences from 150 years ago with a diverse offering of free programs, living history, and exhibits. Especially notable this year will be a lecture by nationally known Civil War historian Ed Bearss.
