STAFFORD, Va. – On August 20, a man was charged and arrested following a road rage incident on Interstate 95 near Courthouse Road Commuter Lot.

Stafford County Sheriff spokesman William Kennedy said that the victim of the road rage incident told a deputy that while he was traveling south on I-95, a car began to tailgate him. Kennedy then said the victim slowed down his car by releasing the gas but not pressing the brakes until the car decided to pass him.

MANASSAS, Va. — In the building where once a daily newspaper was produced, vines now grow up the façade, grass grows up through cracks in the parking lot, and a sign still hangs on the front door of 9009 Church Street stating all deliveries need to be taken around back.

But no one has occupied the old Manassas Journal Messenger building since the newspaper, which changed its name to News & Messenger after combining with the Potomac News of Woodbridge, ceased publication in 2012.

NORTH STAFFORD, Va. — The Aquia Volunteer Rescue Squad building and the land it sits on will soon belong to Stafford County.

A deal brokered between the gated community’s Aquia Harbour Property Owners Association and local government officials will lead to the 22-year-old building, known as Station 9, being upgraded within the next 10 years, according to county documents. Volunteers and career fire fighters from Stafford County will continue to use the building for fire and rescue operations.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — When a barrel containing chemicals exploded at the landfill, fears arose that a new high school being built next door may be too close for comfort.

That barrel exploded July 30 after someone dropped it off at a chemical depot at the Prince William County Sanitary Landfill at 14811 Dumfries Road at Independent Hill. The incident prompted a response from police, fire and rescue crews, and calls from the FBI. After being shut down, the landfill reopened for regular business about two hours after the explosion.
