MANASSAS, Va. — For many students, making the transition to high school extra curricular activities can be difficult, and this sparked the need for a summer band camp program to help students in Manassas.

Started by the M&M Band Boosters at the end of the past school year, a group of teachers and students at Mayfield intermediate and Metz elementary schools in Manassas came together to create a summer bad camp program, to help students prepare for joining the Osbourn HS Band this Fall.

In this role, Carlock will expand and enhance an already extensive training portfolio. In addition, he will focus on developing new methods of delivery and compliance to meet the evolving needs of Academy students and the security challenges faced by our customers.

STAFFORD, Va. — The Stafford County Citizens Academy is now open for student registration. The academy is a series of classes taught by Stafford County employees designed to familiarize citizens with the services that they provide to the community. 

The academy will run once a week in October. Classes focus on educating residents, business owners and interested individuals who work in Stafford on how the operations of their daily county government contribute to building a better community. Topics will include an introduction to local government, as well as information on various County departments and programs, the County budget, and history and tourism.


Megan Elliott of Woodbridge, Va. was one of 115 first-year students who recently took part in the Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine Class of 2018 White Coat Ceremony.

Elliott graduated from C.D. Hylton High School in 2009 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry in 2013 and a Master of Science in Biochemistry in 2014 from the University of Tulsa. She is the daughter of Jay and Jane Melott of Woodbridge, granddaughter of Jenny Melott of North Platte, Neb., and wife of Benjamin Elliott.


RICHMOND, Va. – A federal jury returned guilty verdicts Thursday against former Virginia Governor Robert F. McDonnell and former First Lady of Virginia Maureen G. McDonnell for participating in a scheme to violate federal public corruption laws.

MANASSAS, Va. – On August 29, a 53-year-old woman told police that a man exposed himself to her at a Harris Teeter on August 26. According to the report, the description given matches that of the man who exposed himself at Barnes & Noble on August 24.
