The arrival of a piece of steel from the World Trade Center is expected to cause delays this weekend on Interstate 95.

The steel will be brought from New York City to the National Museum of the Marine Corps at Quantico. It’s part of a new memorial that commemorates 17 New York City firefighters who also were Marines.


 

On Saturday, October 18, 2014, Virginia Leadership Institute (VLI) will host a forum that will examine the state of education policy in Prince William County. The panelists are vocational and community leaders in education who represent the nine historically Black Greek letter organizations.

MANASSAS, Va. – On Sept. 27, Manassas City police officers went to 8800 Fort Drive to investigate a report that shots were fired in the area. 

Officers were told by someone at the scene that they saw what was described as a “late model red minivan” driving down Jackson Avenue nearby, said Manassas police spokeswoman Adrienne Helms. While it passed, the driver fired two gunshots out of the car and continued to drive back on Jackson Avenue, towards Sudley Road until it left the scene, said Helms. 


MANASSAS, Va. – On September 23, two suspects were arrested for a hit and run to a parked vehicle on 9431 West Street with damages that totaled over $2,000. 

The hit and run occurred at the Train Depot at around 10:20 pm, said Manassas police spokeswoman Adrienne Helms. After the investigation, officers found and charged John William Staggs, 40, with driving while intoxicated and hit and run, he was held on a $2,000 bond, said Helms.


MANASSAS, Va. – On September 26, a female victim told Manassas police that she saw an unknown man standing at her bedroom door.

Once the victim saw the suspect, he told her he entered the wrong house and fled out the front door, driving away in a gold Honda Accord, said Manassas police spokeswoman Adrienne Helms. The suspect is described as a white male, 6’2″, weighing approximately 200 pounds, with black hair and glasses, and was last seen wearing khaki pants and a t-shirt, said Helms.


STAFFORD, Va. – On Sept. 25, an attempted burglary occurred at Aquia Episcopal Church located on 2938 Jefferson Davis Highway in Stafford.

Stafford sheriff’s spokesman William Kennedy said that on Sept. 25, a deputy was sent to investigate an alarm activation at the church that occurred at 11:57 p. Kennedy explained that initially it appeared that the signal came from a perimeter door, but when the deputy spoke with the church pastor, it was determined that the alarm came from the church office.
