A wind chill advisory that was supposed to end at 9 a.m. Friday will be extended until noon. And even then there’s no immediate signs of the cold letting up.

Due to a shortage of psychiatric services in the area, the Prince William County Board of Supervisors has approved a telepsychiatry program for county employees.
The program uses video-conferencing technology for individuals to meet virtually with a psychiatrist.

A $50,000 grant was awarded to Stafford County by the Virginia Land Conservation Foundation, to help the county purchase the development rights of the Jones Farm, as part of the county’s purchase of development rights program (PDR).

The Capitol Steps comedy troupe are coming to the Hylton Performing Arts Center in Manassas on February 21 at 7 p.m. for a performance to benefit the Manassas Bull Run Rotary. Funds collected will help the Rotary assist deserving and successful charities.

John Jones, a former Brigadier General with the Army National Guard and a Stafford resident, pled guilty today for his involvement in a contracting bribery scheme.
After retiring from the National Guard, Jones founded a company called the Military Personnel Services Corporation (MPSC).

Jack Dobbyn, a small business owner, has announced his candidacy for Mount Vernon Supervisor and has received the endorsement of former Attorney General candidate Justin Fairfax.
Dobbyn is currently a member of the Board of Supervisors’ Human Services Council and is a co-chair of the Board of Supervisors’ and School Board’s joint working committee, the Successful Children and Youth Policy Team. He is also a former chair of the Mount Vernon District Democratic Committee.

Mark Milligan, 23, had spent a “couple months” in the Prince William County area, according to a Stafford sheriff’s spokesman.
Milligan was shot and killed outside Wings to Go just off Garrisonville Road in North Stafford on Sunday.

The public hearing for Stafford school redistricting plans scheduled for tonight is postponed to February 24 at 6p.m.
This public hearing is one of many held by the Stafford School Board in the past month, as they make plans to implement three redistricting plans – two for elementary schools, one for middle schools – for the upcoming 2015 school year.
