After recent decision by the Rappahannock Regional Solid Waste Management Board (R-Board) to charge disposal fees at a landfill Stafford, more trash has been spotted along streets leading to the landfill.
Stafford County Supervisors Meg Bohmke and Paul Milde have both fielded complaints from several residents about the recent uptick in litter they’ve seen in their communities since the fee structure became active.

A tractor trailer carrying a load of cherry tomatoes crashed about 5 a.m. Saturday.
A 36-year old man from Manassas, identified as Juan Orellana, died yesterday afternoon in a car crash in Henrico County.
The 2006 Ford van Orellana was driving ran off the road and hit a tree on I-295 at the 46-mile marker, according to a release from Virginia State Police.
The City of Manassas has released an alert related to a new payment scam being used on residents in the area.
“In this scam, the caller tells the resident or business that he/she is with the City of Manassas Power Company disconnect team and that they will cut off the person’s power if the resident does not buy a pre-paid gift card and call them back with the number on the card,” said Patty Prince, Communications Manager for the city, in a release.
The Prince William County Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting their second summer camp job fair this Saturday in Manassas.
The fair will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the George Hellwig Administrative Building on Bristow Road.
The Virginia Railway Express (VRE) held a public hearing this week in Stafford to talk about a potential 4% increase in fare prices.
There were four attendees at the meeting to ask questions and express their opinions about the fare increase.
Police in Manassas said they charged a dog owner who tied weights to the animal’s leg and made it walk down a sidewalk.
