Maureen Caddigan kicked off her bid to keep her seat as the Prince William County Potomac District Supervisor.
Caddigan held her campaign kick off Thursday night at the Dumfries-Triangle Rescue Squad on Graham Park Road in Dumfries. About 100 people turned out to greet Caddigan, according to a campaign press release.
There are currently four projects being worked on by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) that will help the flow of traffic and improve congestion in the western end of Prince William.
The projects – the Linton Hall Road Interchange, I-66 Widening project, Interstate 66/Route 15 Interchange, and Transform 66 project were all discussed at a recent town hall meeting in Haymarket.
Yesterday the Prince William-Manassas-Manassas Park Narcotics Task Force finished an investigation that led to four arrests in Woodbridge.
The investigation was focused on the suspected sale of cocaine, heroin and prescription medication.

This week,two public hearings to announce the 2016 budget that included an increase in OmniRide and OmniLink fares, as well as the elimination of OmniRide’s Route One bus.
Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission Executive Director Alfred Harf said all of the changes were necessary, including the elimination of the Route 1 bus.
A man was at home in his living room when he heard a knock on the door.
The person on the other side apparently got tired of knocking and kicked in the door. When inside, the man recognized the resident of the apartment and then proceeded to search the home for a mutual friend, according to police.
The Stafford Parks and Recreation Department has announced their summer camp line-up for children this summer in Stafford.
Last year more than 1,300 children attended the camps, according to Cathy Volbrecht, Director of Communications for Stafford County.
Manassas City Council met on Monday to review City Manager Patrick Pate’s proposed budget for the 2016 fiscal year.
“The largest issue not fully addressed in this proposed budget is the need for longer-term capital investments in our community,” said Pate.
The Stafford County Fire and Rescue Department needs 50 more staff members over the next few years, but with limited funding, they’re looking to the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant to fund some of the cost.
According to county documents the need for the additional fire and rescue staff is coming from increased population growth, as well as increased business development and less volunteer fire fighters working in the county.
