When Prince William fire and rescue arrived on the scene, they found a fire on the second floor, blazing through the roof and the back of the home.

Responders from several units including the Prince William County Department of Fire & Rescue, the Dale City Volunteer Fire Department, the Occoquan, Woodbridge & Lorton Volunteer Fire Department and the Dumfries-Triangle Volunteer Fire Department worked as a team to combat the flames.

Project Mend-A-House (PMAH) is an area non-profit that helps provide home maintenance services to those in need in Prince William County, Manassas and Manassas Park. The organization has been able to provide assistance to seniors, veterans and the disabled for more than 30 years.


Potomac Local sent a candidate survey to Atif M. Qarni. He’s running to represent the 29th District in the Virginia Senate, a seat currently held by the retiring Chuck Colgan. 

Qarni faces Jeremy McPike and Micheal Futrell  in a June 9, 2015 Primary Election. The winner of the Primary Election will go on to face Republican Harry “Hal” Parrish II in the November General Election on Nov. 3, 2015.  


Anne R. Darron is the executive director of Washington Heritage Museums. The organization is responsible for maintaining the Mary Washington House in Fredericksburg, the home of George Washington’s mother. They also oversee the Rising Sun Tavern, Hugh Mercer Apothecary, and St. James’ House in Fredericksburg.

Darron has been on the job 11 months. We asked her how things are going, and what events are coming up at the museums.

Principi faces Republican challenger Steve Chapman in the November General Election on Nov. 3, 2015.
