According to Young, he did not seek out the role, but was nominated by a committee for the seat.
“Our nominating processes are fairly self perpetuating. Every year, a nominations committee gets together and seeks to recommend candidates…I’ve been on the board for a long time as a district representative, and was asked to be allowed to put up my name for nomination and I thought about it for a little while, and said sure,” said Young.
After investigating, Manassas City police were able to identify the driver that struck a police vehicle this morning on Hastings Drive as 29-year old Dumfries woman Cindy Rathbun.
Rathbun was charged with reckless driving.

A majority of Freedom’s summer campers will go swimming each day. The times are scheduled, and camping groups are rotated to keep the pool from getting overcrowded.
On the morning of May 27, 19-year old Jada Barnes was arrested by Prince William police in relation to an issue she was having with an acquaintance.
The original incident included Barnes allegedly making threats against the acquaintance, by text message and by phone, according to Prince William police.

Last week, two Democratic primary candidates for the Potomac district – Andrea Bailey and Dumfries Town Councilman Derrick Wood – met for a debate.
The debate was an opportunity for voters to meet the candidate and learn their stances prior to the upcoming primary, which is on June 9.
