Although there is much ado about The Event this weekend as we try and bring as many people into Georgetown South as possible so they can donate to “Reyna’s Children,” we may be losing sight of the woman behind the cause.

Her name is Reyna Torres Alatriste who I watched break down in tears as she realized that her idea of sending her children to Mexico ahead of her so she could fight the cancer here was a ridiculous idea because she would not last any time at all without being able to see her kids, Yarizel (11), Rebecca (10), Marking (5) and Esther (3).


Coinciding with the Historic Downtown Manassas Fall Gallery Walk on Friday, November 6th, marketing and creative firm Imagine will be holding their first annual CANNED: A Show of Art & Compassion group art show in their facility at 9415 West Street in Manassas.

The show is open to the public, and doors will open at 6pm. While admission to the show is free, donations of non-perishable food to Northern Virginia Family Service (SERVE) are encouraged.


The special meeting of the Board of Supervisors will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26, 2015. 

Chairman Corey Stewart will call a special meeting of the Prince William County Board of Supervisors to discuss plans to build a commuter parking lot on a county farm.

There is a compromise in the works for a the design and layout of Prince William County’s 13th high school.

School Board Chairman At-large Milton Johns delayed what was going to be a vote Wednesday night on the new school building that will be located in western Prince William, either in a new development called Stone Haven or on a site on Rollins Ford donated to the county that was to become a park.


Two bow hunters made a creepy find in North Stafford. 

Sheriff’s deputies were called to the area of Mine Road and Highpointe Boulevard in Stafford County at 6:30 p.m. Sunday for a report of a human skull found. Other human bones were also found nearby, said Stafford sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy.
