Investigators are looking into a series of vehicle break-ins in Stafford County.

A sheriff’s deputy was called to three streets in the county’s Rockhill District after someone broke into a series of cars and stole things like an iPod, a knife, and some loose change.


A panel discussion about the work underway at the Prince William Science Accelerator was held Wednesday.

The county’s economic development office invited the public for an open house. Food and beverage were served, and panelists served up perspective on partnerships between the private firms who have offices in the Accelerator and nearby George Mason University.


 

Man pleads guilty to murder in killing of FBI police officer

A man who laid in wait for well over an hour before killing FBI police officer Jeremy Brown outside Brown’s home in southern Stafford County April 27 pleaded guilty Monday to first-degree murder. [Free Lance-Star]


A new report calls the October 4 death of a Prince William County man justifiable homicide. 

Police said 48-year-old Stephen Brown was killed by his son on Oct. 4, 2015 at their home in the 12700 block of Lost Creek Court near Dale City. 


The cost Prince William County taxpayers shelled out to support the local bus system this year: $15.5 million.

Neighboring jurisdictions in the cities of Manassas and Manassas Park paid a combined $576,000.


Va. decides not to change rules that withhold documents from defense

Parents will get their say over a planned elementary school next to Chinn Park Regional Library in Woodbridge. 

A public hearing is scheduled Jan. 7, 2016 to give parents new information about the planned school that aims to relieve overcrowded conditions at other nearby elementary schools.


An independent pharmacy owner in Stafford hopes investigators can find out who keeps trying to break into his store. 

A burglar tried to break into Dan’s Wellness Pharmacy, located at 418 Garrisonville Road in North Stafford, at 1:35 a.m. Saturday. The burglar broke into a back hallway but was not able to enter the pharmacy, owner Dan Singh told Stafford Local.
