The region is under a Blizzard Watch, as a potentially historic winter storm could dump a foot or more of snow on our area.
The watch goes into effect Friday night and lasts until late Saturday night.

The Evergreen Volunteer Fire Department was dissolved Tuesday.
Career Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue personnel will staff the station on Route 15 in western Prince William. A mix of career and volunteer staff had operated the station prior to the takeover.
A walk to end Alzheimer’s Disease toured Manassas neighborhoods and exceeded fundraising goals.
The annual Tri-County Walk to End Alzheimer’s raised $100,114, a total of $114 more than the goal.
A total of 14 new fire and rescue personnel graduated in the latest Stafford County recruit class.
The men and women trained for 26 weeks for the jobs through various courses to include EMT, firefighter, and MAYDAY training for when a firefighter is down.

An EMT was struck in the face by the accused while being transported to a local hospital after being found unconscious and intoxicated.
The accused is charged with assault and battery on an emergency medical services personnel.
Stafford County will build a new animal shelter.
The county has outgrown its current shelter next to the Rappahannock Regional Landfill on Eskimo Hill Road. It was built in 1991.
Investigators said more that 30 shots were fired outside a North Stafford apartment complex Sunday.
Sheriff’s deputies were called to the 1000 block of Providence Street, off Greenspring Drive at 12:27 a.m. for several 911 calls reporting shots fired. Two cars were damaged from the gunfire, as well as an apartment building and nearby townhouse.
