Those behind a study to expand Virginia Railway Express in western Prince William County say the region’s population numbers will explode.
The transit agency said it used statistics from the Prince William County Planning Office that show more 43 percent of the growth in the county between now and 2040 will be centered along a planned 11-mile extension of VRE’s Manassas line, from the city to Haymarket.
Occoquan-Woodbridge-Lorton Volunteer Firefighters responded to the report of a fire at 1324 Congress Street in Woodbridge. OWL VFD crews arrived on scene to find fire in the basement of a single family home.
Entry was made thru the front door and the fire was knocked down in less than 10 minutes. The blaze is under investigation by the Prince William County Fire Marshal’s Office. American Red Cross was called and assisted one adult and one small dog with temporary housing. Fire and Rescue units from OWL VFD, Dale City VFD, Fairfax, and [Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue] responded to the incident.
Police identified the shooting victim as 19-year-old Ishamael Mansaray, of Woodbridge.
Mansaray is a 2015 graduate of Gar-Field Senior High School in Woodbridge, said school spokesman Phil Kavits. (more…)

Police confronted a man near the intersection of Dale Boulevard and Gideon Drive. The man in the video is seen naked, yelling at police officers, and resisting arrest.
Dumfries Mayor Jerry Foreman is accused of stealing a campaign sign from a property in the town.
The twice-elected mayor was arrested Saturday afternoon. Vice-Mayor Willie J. Toney said the stolen campaign sign belonged to him.
