The Town of Dumfries Police Department is looking for volunteers to help with the “Christmas in Dumfries” event on Saturday December 17, 2016. 


The Chairman of the Potomac Region Veterans Council (PRVC), and Commander of VFW Post 7916, Chuck Wilson, Colonel, USAF (Ret), was the Master of Ceremonies at a Veterans Day ceremony at Quantico on Friday.

From police: 

Armed Robbery – On November 14 at 9:43AM, officers responded to investigate a robbery which was reported to have occurred at the Exxon service station located at 13505 Minnieville Rd in Woodbridge (22192) the night prior, November 13, at approximately 9:40PM. A store employee reported to police that three masked men entered the business armed with handguns. The men approached the counter and took an undisclosed amount of money, cigarettes and other property before fleeing the business on foot. No injuries were reported. The men were only described as black males, one heavyset, wearing hooded shirts and masks.

This problem has many possible causes; housing policy and the lack of education funding prioritization are two obvious reasons. However, finger-pointing and assigning blame are not marks of leadership. We need our leaders to come together on solutions.
