MANASSAS — The seventh annual airshow being held at Manassas Regional Airport this Saturday has a new name, one that recognizes its largest sponsor: The 2018 Leaseweb Manassas Airshow.

That big sponsorship is good for the 15,000 to 20,000 spectators expected to attend the free show, which can only be seen on site.

On Saturday, June 30, Workhouse Fireworks will race skyward, illuminating the Northern Virginia landscape in an expertly-choreographed display of pyrotechnic light and thunder. This annual fireworks celebration kicks off a season filled with exciting art exhibitions, summer camps, outdoor concerts, and popular events including the Workhouse Brewfest craft beer festival (August 4) and Madhaunter’s Madhouse haunted trail (October).

MANASSAS — When people are seeking a service animal and vision impairment is the issue, Guiding Eyes for the Blind has been there since 1954, offering services free of charge.

The organization that has graduated over 7,000 guide dog teams is located in Yorktown Heights, New York. And while that might not seem local to the Prince William area, locals have gotten involved in raising exceptional dogs.

From a press release:

The Manassas Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Music Director James Villani, will conclude its 25th Anniversary Season with Russian Silver on May 12, 2018 at 7:30 pm at the Hylton Performing Arts Center. The highlight of the concert will be the performance of Rimsky-Korsakov’s magical Scheherazade, where the orchestra will be augmented with 21 advanced musicians from seven area high schools and one middle school, representing 3 different school districts, Prince William County, Manassas City, and Fairfax County Schools. The MSO performed this amazing composition in 2007.

The Hylton Extra Series at the Hylton Performing Arts Center works to bring in widely known “top tier talent and lower tier prices,” and they’re meeting their mission once again. Livingston Taylor will be here performing April 15, 2018 at 8 p.m.

Taylor has been in the music industry for over 50 years. He comes from a family of musicians, said Hylton Center’s General Manager David Baylor.
