DALE CITY — (Press Release) On Friday, June 7th, 2019 seven Birmingham Green team members and four residents presented a donation of $500 worth of toys and supplies to The Arc of Greater Prince William’s Muriel Humphrey Childcare Center in Dale City.
In May, Birmingham Green team members and residents participated in Comcast Cares Day. They joined Comcast, Leadership Prince William, and the ARC of Greater Prince William for one of the largest days of volunteerism in Northern Virginia. Over 300 volunteers from the area participated to help the special needs children, adults, and families the ARC of Greater Prince William serves.
MANASSAS — Manassas is holding its 15th annual Jazz festival on Saturday, June 15 which will include food, drink, and music to enjoy.
The event will be held on the lawn of the Manassas Museum, from noon to 7 p.m. A VIP entrance will open at 11 a.m.
NOKESVILLE — Martin Cervantez, an illustrator who enlisted in the Army Signal Corps in 1986, is opening an exhibit dedicated to the power of art therapy on Saturday, July 13.
The reception will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Receptions are free and open to the public. The exhibit will continue until August 31.
PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY – From food festivals to world class music, arts and crafts and beach bonfires, there’s something fun to do every weekend this summer in Prince William County.
Here are some of the family friendly events available this summer:
BRISTOW — 2 Silos Brewing Company presented a check to The Sweet Julia Grace Foundation (SJGF) for $32,793.33 — the largest donation ever received by the foundation.
The amount raised was the result of the first 6 months of a unique partnership between the brewing company and the nonprofit where 100% of proceeds from the Raspberry Cream Ale and $1 of each cheese pizza was contributed.
OCCOQUAN – The 50th Anniversary of the Occoquan Arts and Crafts Shows still has openings for spring volunteers, particularly to staff bus stops, the information booth, or to provide periodic vendor assistance.
Volunteers are requested for four-hour shifts on both Saturday, June 1 and Sunday, June 2. Most position openings are on Sunday, but assistance for Saturday morning setup is also welcome.
DALE CITY — On May 10, the first annual Dale City Volunteer Fire Department (DCVFD) Mother-Son Dance was held.
Over 50 people participated in the event, which took place in DeSanto Community Hall and was open to the public. Admission was $5 per person and profits were donated to the DCVFD Auxiliary, which supports the department.
WOODBRIDGE — On May 17, a team from Woodbridge’s Boy Scout troops met two teams from Maryland on Capitol Hill for “Rockets on the Hill.”
This event kicked off the National Finals of the Team America Rocketry Challenge (TARC).
