FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — Riverside Center for the Performing Arts is two weeks into its run of The Sound of Music, and ticket sales are already tracking alongside one of its biggest recent hits, Jersey Boys.
More than 6,000 tickets have been sold with eight weeks remaining. Jersey Boys drew more than 11,000 during its run in 2024.

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The folks at Crunch Fitness just told Potomac Local News they’re opening a brand-new, $3 million gym right in Central Park, near Interstate 95 and Route 3 —and it’s throwing a grand opening bash this Wednesday, August 27.
The new Crunch Fredericksburg promises serious fitness with a fun twist, offering everything from Olympic lifting platforms and HIIT turf zones to HydroMassage beds and saunas. Memberships start at $10 month, and grand opening day deals include a $1 signup and the first month free. One lucky attendee could even score a free one-year membership.
The Freedom Museum in Historic Manassas is once again inviting the community to lace up their dancing shoes and step back into the 1950s. The Step Back in Time: 4th Annual Sock Hop will be held Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Bishop Russell Hall, 9290 Stonewall Road in Manassas.
The fundraiser is more than just a night of rock ’n’ roll, poodle skirts, and hula hoops. It’s the Freedom Museum’s biggest opportunity to keep its doors open and continue preserving the stories of local veterans.

“It’s a full-contact sport,” said Scerica (pronounced Scare-ick-a), a bruising member of the team who thrives on the adrenaline. Her real name is Erica, but she explained, “I’m scary, so Scerica seemed more appropriate.”

The cast and creative team at Riverside Center for the Performing Arts say they’ve “poured their hearts into every note, step, and scene,” according to a Facebook post announcing the show’s debut. The production tells the inspiring story of Maria and the Von Trapp family, brought to life through cherished songs like “Do-Re-Mi,” “My Favorite Things,” and “Climb Ev’ry Mountain.”
MANASSAS, Va. – The folks at the ARTfactory just told Potomac Local News they’re bringing back Every Brilliant Thing—a powerful one-man play that had audiences raving earlier this year. You can catch encore performances on September 5, 6, and 7 in the Wind River Theater.
Directed by Producing Artistic Director Kimberly Kemp and starring longtime ARTfactory favorite David Johnson, the show takes a heartfelt (and often funny) look at mental health, love, and the little things that make life worth living. MANASSAS, Va. – The folks at Dunkin’ just told Potomac Local News they’re throwing a grand opening bash for their brand-new “Next Gen” restaurant on Liberia Avenue—and the first 100 people in line could snag free coffee for a year.
It’s all happening Saturday, August 23, from 9 to 11 a.m., at 9502 Liberia Ave. The celebration kicks off with a ribbon-cutting at 9:30 a.m., followed by giveaways, a prize wheel, face painting, music, and a visit from the Dunkin’ mascot. Local franchise owner Andy Cabral will also present a $1,000 donation to the House of Mercy.
