CFH, Inc. a 41-year-old Northern Virginia nonprofit in Dumfries, has announced its plans for the 3rd Annual CFH 5k Run-Walk for Affordable Housing.
The 2020 CFH Help Pay the Rent Event, which will fund rental assistance and other programs that help seniors and families stay in their homes, will be a virtual 5k in which registrants can complete the course of their choosing any time from November 14-22.
The Prince William County Fire & Rescue System is teaming up with the National Fire Protection Association the sponsor of Fire Prevention Week for more than 90 years—to promote this year’s Fire Prevention Week campaign, “Serve Up Fire Safety in the Kitchen!”
The campaign, which runs October 4 to 10, educates the public about cooking hazards and how one can take small, yet important actions to prevent cooking-related fires — the leading cause of home fires and home fire injuries.

On Sunday, September 20, family, friends, princesses, superheroes, first responders, and volunteers with The Sweet Julia Grace Foundation gathered for a celebration parade. Cars were decorated with balloons and signs of support.
The event was all for three-year-old Matthew who, in 2019, was diagnosed with cancer. Mathew has endured 13 rounds of chemotherapy, four surgeries, three serious bacterial infections, two bone marrow transplants, and six months of immunotherapy. In early September, after a week of scans, blood work, biopsies, and tests, he was declared free of the disease.

Manassas City plans to help promote its downtown businesses with a new advertising campaign, complete with photos, aimed at Christmas shoppers.

From Oct. 1 to 4, BISSELL Pet Foundation is teaming up with 160 shelters in 33 states to reduce adoption fees for an Empty the Shelters event.

On Sept. 11, an estimated 4,500 U.S. Flags were retired in a dignified manner.
These flags were collected as part of a Boy Scout program at the Prince William County Landfill and Balls Ford Compost Facility.
The Workhouse Arts Center is in the running to receive a $25,000 grant from State Farm which will provide additional funding for its arts programming.
The grant will be given to the nonprofit that receives the most votes.
On Saturday, Oct. 3, the Fredericksburg Nationals will be unveiling a new addition to their stadium, the “History of Baseball in Fredericksburg” Wall.
Located behind the batter’s eye on the centerfield concourse, the wall will be 80 feet long and 12 feet high showcasing some of Fredericksburg’s history ranging from the Civil War to the present, including some lesser-known baseball factoids.
