Virginia Morticians’ Assoc. Names Mortician of the Year

Ames Funeral Home, Inc. staff and family congratulates Malcolm Oliver Ames, CFSP as Mortician of the Year 2023. The Virginia Morticians’ Association, Inc. (VMA) honored Ames this prestigious award in Roanoke, Virginia during their 95th Annual Convention on June 30, 2023.

The Mortician of the Year award is given to a member of VMA recognized by his/her peers who demonstrates professionalism exhibited at all national, state, and local levels. The individual is characterized by excellent leadership and integrity within the association and community. The individual is dedicated to the funeral service profession and the collective good towards the membership of VMA.

Ames is the son of the late Bernard Oliver Ames and Helen H. Ames, founders of Ames Funeral Home, Inc., Manassas, Virginia. He has been a funeral service licensee for forty-two years and received his CFSP (Certified Funeral Service Practitioner) on July 3, 2019. As a second generation owner of Ames Funeral Home, Inc., he anticipates celebrating 65 years in business serving the Greater Northern Virginia communities.
