Stafford EDA supports UMW’s Business Acumen Series

UMW's Stafford Campus will host two of the upcoming Business Acumen series.

The University of Mary Washington’s Continuing & Professional Studies Department’s Business Acumen Series has three more events this year. This series of one-day seminars aims to build leadership and business skills in the Fredericksburg region. The series focuses on Dynamic Leadership under the theme “Dynamic Mind for Dynamic Times: Agile Leadership in the Age of Change.”

The Stafford Economic Development Authority has invested in 50 seats for the series to support the Stafford business community with educational resources. Each seminar is valued at $275. A limited number of seats are available at no cost to Stafford businesses. Interested parties are encouraged to apply for this opportunity.

New Planet Fitness Gym Set to Open at Stafford Marketplace

Planet Fitness will open a new gym at 1455 Stafford Marketplace in North Stafford later this year. The facility will occupy the former Best Buy location, which closed in March 2024.

Jillian Sanchez, Senior Project Manager at GFP Planet Fitness, shared details about this upcoming venture. “We are thrilled to bring a 20,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art fitness facility to the Stafford community. At Planet Fitness, our mission is to provide accessibility to fitness at a low cost and promote the physical well-being of the community,” Sanchez stated in emails obtained by Potomac Local as part of a freedom of information records order.

(The Center Square) – Small businesses are citing the highest levels of uncertainty since the COVID-19 pandemic, a concerning economic indicator.

The National Federation of Independent Businesses released the survey of small businesses, which found that small business uncertainty spiked last month.

US Air Force awards $10 million contract to Manassas-based RapidFlight

RapidFlight will develop and produce an autonomous aircraft for the USAF.

RapidFlight has secured a contract worth up to $10 million from the U.S. Department of the Air Force’s AFWERX Autonomy Prime program to develop the SPX, a customizable autonomous fixed-wing aircraft system. This partnership aims to accelerate the integration of autonomous technologies into Air Force programs, with RapidFlight providing design, development, testing, and training over a 36-month period, highlighting their innovative AgileAviation process to reduce development time and costs.
