NORTH STAFFORD, Va — Above the doorway of a now shuttered restaurant, theres a sure-sign that a new restaurant is coming to take its place.
Ricky’s Chicken will open a new location in a retail complex along U.S. 1 in North Stafford, near Boswell’s Corner. It will replace the now closed Habanero’s restaurant. Dubbed “Ricky’s Chicken II,” it will be the second restaurant to open under the name.
DUMFRIES, Va. — Two weeks of strongly-worded emails among members of the Dumfries Business Association came to a head Wednesday night.
It started when Chris Caldwell, who runs a consulting firm in Dumfries, emailed a list of members of the Dumfries Business Association. In the emails, Caldwell questioned the number of meetings the organization holds, the effectiveness of the group’s leadership, and suggested the organization be a stronger voice in local politics.
Virginia’s Sales Tax Holiday is coming August 2 – 4, where shoppers can get back-to-school gear tax free.
The statewide tax holiday applies to a wide range of items, from clothing, computer gear, to office and school supplies. The Virginia Department of Taxation has provided a list of tax-exempt items on their website.
NORTH STAFFORD, Va. — Embrey Mill, a neighborhood that when finished will have some 1,800 new homes in Stafford County, has announced when those homes will go on sale.

MANASSAS, Va. — Business and politics will meet next month at the Hylton Performing Arts Center in Manassas, where the candidates in this year’s gubernatorial contest will meet for a debate.
The debate, called “Battleground Forum,” will be presented by several regional chambers of commerce including Prince William’s.
Kroger will buy grocery chain Harris Teeter, allowing the Cincinnati-based grocery store chain to enter the Washington, D.C. area market.
Of the 212 stores Kroger will pick up as part of the newly announced $2.5 billion deal, three stores are in Prince William County and one is in Manassas.
NORTH STAFFORD, Va. — A popular live music venue and cafe in North Stafford will once again close its doors.
Bella Cafe on U.S. 1 in Boswell’s Corner, near Quantico Corporate Center, will close by July 20, according to a post on its Facebook page.

While it was later than its anticipated opening at the end of March, Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar and Grill told developers they had planned to open by July 1, said Roadside Development spokesman Jeff Edlestein.
MANASSAS, Va. – The Flory Small Business Center, Inc. continues to offer free workshops to entrepreneurs that are in the start-up phase of their business. The next Start-Up workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, July 5 in Manassas.

MANASSAS, Va. — In the past eight months, the Prince William Chamber of Commerce has expanded its membership base to more than 2,000 businesses.
Nearly 30% of the members who have joined this year are organizations headquartered outside Prince William County, and that has helped the Prince William Chamber surpass the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce as the largest local chamber in Virginia, said President and CEO Robert Clapper.
