Original post – A major crash on Route 17 (Warrenton Road) in Stafford County has led to an extended road closure in Lichfield Boulevard and McWhirt Loop. The incident involves downed power lines, creating hazardous conditions for drivers.

Authorities have not provided an estimated time for reopening the roadway, and motorists are urged to use the most convenient alternate route to avoid delays.


According to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to reports of a reckless driver and disturbance in the area at approximately 6:35 p.m. The incident began when an off-duty federal law enforcement officer confronted a motorcyclist reportedly driving recklessly on an off-road motorcycle. The motorcyclist initially left the scene but later returned with family members. Deputies stopped them in a white Lincoln near the intersection of North Jenny Lynn Road and Cross Cut Lane, where a confrontation ensued, about a mile from a Giant Food store at Town and Country Marketplace on White Oak Road.

Police said that three individuals—identified as Nicolas Vazquez, 20, Angel Vazquez, 21, and Xavier Vazquez, 46—began causing a disturbance with both the deputies and the off-duty agent, who lives in the neighborhood and was out walking his dog. As deputies attempted to control the situation, the encounter turned physical, Stafford County authorities said.


A winter storm bringing snow and strong winds will force schools in Stafford County, Fredericksburg City, and Spotsylvania County to close on Thursday, February 20, 2025.

Stafford County Public Schools will be closed, with all 12-month staff operating on a two-hour delay. As a result of this closure, Friday, March 21, 2025, will now be a regular, full instructional day for students to make up for the lost classroom time.

Prince William County crash investigators responded to the scene at Route 234 and Van Buren Road intersection at 10:36 p.m. on Sunday, February 16, where they found a two-vehicle collision involving a 2013 Audi A7 and a 2024 Cadillac Escalade.


Firefighters responded to a house fire Tuesday evening at 100201 Waterford Drive, near Clover Hill Road.

Crews from Manassas and Prince William County Fire and Rescue were dispatched at 5:05 p.m. to the three-story home, where flames had spread to the second floor. All occupants and a dog safely evacuated before firefighters arrived.

A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for the region from 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, to 7 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2025, prompting numerous school closings and early dismissals. The National Weather Service forecasts heavy snowfall between 4 to 8 inches, with snowfall rates reaching 1 to 2 inches per hour Tuesday afternoon and evening. Hazardous road conditions are expected to impact both the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes.

A case of child abuse and neglect has led to the arrest of three family members following the death of a 4-year-old boy on January 19.

Officers responded to The Regency Apartments in the 9800 block of Shallow Creek Loop near Manassas at 7:36 p.m. January 19, to investigate reports of an unconscious child. When emergency responders arrived, they found the young victim, later identified as a 4-year-old boy, unresponsive.
