Guy Roland Meader died in his home on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 in Manassas, Virginia due to complications following his year-long battle with esophageal cancer. He was 56 years young.
Guy was born on October 27, 1960 in Fort Sumter, South Carolina to Merten and Marjorie Meader. His father was a member of the U.S. Air Force and inspired in Guy a strong desire to serve his country so a few months shy of his 18th birthday, Guy joined the Army. He was stationed in Friedberg, Germany as an Armor Loader. He left Germany to attend the United States Military Academy Preparatory School, West Point Prep School, and then the United States Military Academy from where he resigned in order to pursue other opportunities. Guy continued to serve our country as an Army National Guard member, serving in an Infantry division for some years. Guy continued his ambitious plans and graduated with honors from the University of Maryland with a degree in Government and Politics in 1998. Later in life, while continuing his full-time career and serving in the National Guard, he once again attended the University of Maryland University College, earning a Master’s Certificate in Project Management (2008), a Master’s Degree in Technology Management (2011), and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (2012). In the early 1990s he joined the Capitol Police force, protecting our nation’s Capitol building and public servants. He subsequently joined the Montgomery County, Maryland Police Department as a patrol officer, later becoming a field training officer and then a detective. He earned several recognitions for his dedicated and exemplary service. He later became a contractor working with various agencies within the Federal government.
