Theresa Joan Gibson

Theresa Joan Hopkins Gibson was born in St. Michaels, MD on December 21, 1942. She is the fourth child conceived by the late Arthur E. and Carrie Virginia Hopkins.

Baptized at an early age, Joan started her Spiritual journey at Union United Methodist Church (St. Michaels, MD); later she became a member of Gunston Chapel (Fort Belvoir, VA).

Educated in Talbot County public schools, Joan, as she was affectionately known excelled as an accountant for Honeywell Protection Services for 20 years before retiring in 1998.

She was united in Holy matrimony to Frank E. Gibson on September 6, 1969. Joan, Frank and Tammy (daughter) moved to Virginia were Frank continued his military service of 23 years.

Joan was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who had a passion for life that showed through the many lives she touched. One of the brightest moments of Joan’s life happened when her grandson (Paul) was born. She enjoyed spending time with family and traveling with her closest friends; Howard and Debbie Blake and now deceased Randy and Doretha Elliott. After retirement, her favorite hobbies included shopping at thrift stores, yard sales or anything that dealt with shopping. Joan was a feisty lady who had a heart of gold and a laugh that could brighten anyone’s day. Her strength, determination, and loving and caring spirit were an inspiration to all who knew her.

Joan departed this life peacefully on Friday, August 25, 2017 at her residence in Dumfries, VA. She leaves to cherish in loving memory: her loving and devoted husband of 48 years, Frank; daughter Tammy (Anthony); son Gary and grandson Paul; four sisters: Dorothy, Gloria, Emma and Diane; one brother: Charles and one sister-in-law Shirley. She is preceded in death by one brother, Arthur Jr. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00AM Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas, VA where a memorial service will be held at 11:00AM with Elder Eddie Sampson officiating, Interment will follow at Quantico National Cemetery,

Dorothy Bernice Maddox

Dorothy Bernice Maddox, age 90, of Linden, Virginia formally of Manassas passed away Sunday, August 27, 2017 in Linden.

She was born on September 19, 1926 in Washington DC the daughter of the late Walter E. and Rosa Lee (Schwab) Freeman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Colbert Maddox, Jr., and a daughter Bonita Jean Seitz.

Survivors include her children, Deborah Ann Clark of Grandview, Missouri, Vicki Lynn Pettus of Frankfort, Kentucky, Jaimie-lee Wright of Linden, Virginia; 11 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00AM Friday, September 1, 2017 at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas, Virginia where funeral services will be held at 11:00AM with Pastor Danny Clegg officiating. Interment will follow at Stonewall Memory Gardens.

Judith Ann Harvey

Judith “Judy” Ann Harvey, loving mother, grandmother, and aunt, age 73 of Manassas, Virginia died Saturday morning, August 26, 2017 in the comfort of her home after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer.

She was the devoted wife of the late Harold Harvey.

Mrs. Harvey was born July 27, 1944 in Altoona, Pennsylvania daughter of the late Herbert and Dora Blair. Mrs. Harvey retired in 2007 from Prince William County Schools after 35 years of service.

Survivors include four children, Susan Harvey Surkamp and husband Arthur of Manassas, VA, Donald Lewis Harvey and wife Heather of Woodbridge, VA, Gregory Allen Harvey and wife Wendi of Culpeper, VA and Steven Michael Harvey and wife Jennie of Mooresville, NC. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Nicholas and Mitchell Surkamp, Dylan and Haiden Harvey, and Chad and Cole Harvey, one sister, Beverly D’Elia and husband Dave of Altoona, PA, brother in-law Bob Bastian of Altoona, PA, sister in-law Carol Sizemore and husband Bob of Manassas, VA and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins and her most loyal and beloved dog Charlie.

Mrs. Harvey is preceded in death by her sister Betty Bastian and brother Paul Blair.

The family will receive friends at Pierce Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 9609 Center Street, Manassas, VA on Fri, September 1, 2017 from 6:00-9:00 PM with a service held at 8:00 PM. Another visitation will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2017 from 8:30-9:30 AM at Pierce Funeral Home and Cremation Services with a graveside service following at 10:00 AM at Stonewall Memory Gardens.

Maria Cecilia V. Iroma

Maria Cecilia “Cece” V. Iroma, age 48, of Woodbridge, VA, passed away on August 26, 2017. Beloved wife of the late Jaguanath El. Loving mother of Wendolyn Iroma – El. Dear sister of Janet Sorianosos (Federico), Maria Teresa Paspe (Othello), Henry Iroma (Bambie), and Maria Socorro Winston (Steve). She was predeceased by her siblings; Jonita Whitaker, Danilo Iroma, and Carlo Iroma. Jonita’s husband Eric, and Danilo’s wife Lourdes, still survive. Born in the Philippines, she is the daughter of the late Jose and Anita (Villanueva) Iroma. Also survived by her mother-in-law Wendolyn G. El, brother and sister-in-law; Rosie, Margaret, Michael, Matheno, and Dorcas, as well as several nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

Cece was a kind and loving woman. Her family and friends were her heart and soul. She was actively involved in Wendolyn’s athletic career. She was well known to attend and support her daughter’s lacrosse teams at The Catholic University, John Paul the Great High School, and the Capital Lacrosse Club. Cece was a Manager at COSTCO in Woodbridge. She was a wonderful cook. Cece will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

The family will receive friends at the Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home, 4143 Dale Boulevard, Dale City, VA 22193 on Sunday, August 27, 2017 from 12 noon until her Life Celebration, which will begin at 1:30 PM with reflections from family and friends. A formal service will begin at 2:00 PM.
