The 2021 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Oratorical Competition and Program, hosted by the Prince William County Alumnae Chapter Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., was successful by all measures.

More than 1,000 viewers tuned in to the YouTube premiere to watch Prince William area youth orators express their ideas and give a call to action based on the theme, “Beyond the Dream- Young Voices With Something to Say”.

Joan B Owen 03/16/1928 – 01/22/2021

She passed away from congestive heart failure with her loving family by her side. She was proceeded in death by her daughter Dolores, Husband Johnny, mother Alyce, sisters Dottie and Fay, brother Jake, step-sisters Eloise, Marg, Alice, Betty, Annabelle. She is survived by her children Tommy (Waltraud), Donny (Elaine), Barry (Luanne), Debbie (Carlton) and Tina (Don). And her many grandchildren Doug, Iris, Jen, Tresha, Amber, Melissa, Bridgette, Bobby, Taylor, Kath, Joan and Jenna. And we can’t forget the great grandchildren because she wouldn’t; DJ, Corey, Kala, Cody, Mia, Tyler, Evan, Auston, Ryan, Nathan, Mitchell, Savannah, Caitlyn, Lucas, Maris, Cameron, Mickey, Alex.


Obituaries

Robert Archambault, Jr., 83, passed away on October 22, 2020. Robert leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 59 years, Nicole Archambault; his loving children Patrice Archambault (Nathalie), Natalie Archambault, and Cathy Archambault; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; his sisters Linda Skalubinski (Victor), Susan Moshier, and Joann Holmes; and his brother Ronald Bilodeau.

Robert served in the United States Army and retired after 22 years. He was a faithful member f Holy Family Catholic Church since the 1970’s. He was also a member of the Dale City VFW.


Obituaries

Leroy “Roy” Edwin Sundberg passed away on January 20th, 2021 at the age of 82.  He was battling a broken leg, lung cancer, and Covid-19 which caused complications that ultimately claimed his life.

Leroy was born in Spokane, Washington om July 12, 1938. He enlisted in the United States Army right after graduating from North Carolina High School in 1956.  During his service he worked as a soldier and photographer serving in Korea.  While in the military he met his loving wife Rebecca Von Sundberg and they had two beautiful children Chris Carl and Dawn Lea.  He retired from the United States Army Band as a Master Sergeant and proceeded to work at the National Institute of Health as a research photographer.

Prince William County Service Authority customers who have been financially impacted by COVID-19 have until Wednesday, February 10, at 5 p.m. to apply for assistance.

Customers who have unpaid Service Authority water bills since March 1, 2020, and who have experienced a loss of income due to the Coronavirus Pandemic may be eligible to receive funds from the COVID-19 Municipal Utility Relief Program.
