Some OmniRide buses will now use 15th Street instead of congested 14th Street in Washington.
Passengers who take the commuter buses from the State Department weekday afternoons will be affected by the change, which will have all OmniRide buses re-routed away from 14th Street between H Street and Pennsylvania Avenue.
The change comes as Washingtonâs Department of Transportation has for months been working on a plan to reduce traffic congestion in the corridor.
More to the Story: Washingtonâs transportation department has also been working to implement changes to the Slug system along 14th Street.
Conditions are so bad OmniRide buses often have problems keeping up with the service times printed in their own bus schedules, said Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission spokeswoman Christine Rodrigo.
The change takes place Feb. 28, and new maps and schedules will be reprinted sometime later this spring.
The re-routing also brings changes for passengers on the Dale City â Washington and Lake Ridge â Washington commuter bus routes.
Those buses run once every 10 minutes between 4 and 6 p.m. and will no longer have to wait at the Commerce Department for additional passengers, said Rodrigo.
