The 2025 Polar Plunge is set to take place this Saturday, February 15, at Leesylvania State Park in Woodbridge, and there’s still time to sign up. The event, which raises funds for Special Olympics Virginia, invites participants to take an icy dip in the Potomac River to support athletes with intellectual disabilities.

The Prince William and Manassas police departments are rallying the community to join the effort. Brave individuals and teams of family, friends, co-workers, and organizations are encouraged to participate by taking the plunge, making a donation, or simply attending to cheer on participants.

Ways to Participate:

  • Take the Plunge: Register as an individual or form a team to jump into the chilly waters.
  • Donate: Support the cause financially, even if you prefer to stay dry.
  • Attend and Cheer: Enjoy the festivities and encourage the plungers.

The event will feature live music, games, door prizes, food trucks, and law enforcement displays. A highlight of the day is the annual costume contest, where participants dress in creative outfits before braving the icy waters.

The Polar Plunge is a major fundraiser for Special Olympics, an organization supported by law enforcement agencies across the United States and in 45 countries. Funds raised go directly toward providing year-round sports training and athletic competitions for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

Those interested in registering, donating, or learning more can visit Polar Plunge Prince William.
