3 juveniles arrested in Stafford homicide

STAFFORD — Three juveniles are custody and charged with murder in the shooting death of a man in North Stafford.

The Stafford sheriffs office reports:

Three juvenile suspects were arrested last night by deputies with the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office in connection with the homicide that occurred last month at the 5 Twelve convenience store in the northern end of the county.

On the evening of August 19, 2019, a 15-year-old male subject and two 17-year-old male
subjects were taken into custody by the Stafford Sheriff’s Office and held at the Juvenile
Detention Center.

All three subjects are students at North Stafford High School.

The suspects are charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, attempted
murder, aggravated malicious wounding, and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a
felony.

The names of the juveniles were not released. Two of them were arrested at their homes, while a third was taken into custody during a traffic stop, said Stafford sheriff’s spokeswoman Amanda Vicinanzo.

The investigation spanned over five weeks, and detectives executed over 50 search warrants related to the case, said Vicinanzo. A court date has not yet been set for the suspects.

The shooting occurred on July 3 in the parking lot of a convenience store on Garrisonville Road. It left 41-year-old Micheal Shane Nelson dead, and another 18-year-old woman clinging to life in an area hospital, where she remains today.
