Prince William County’s Commonwealth Attorney, a Democrat, endorses its Republican sheriff

MANASSAS — Glendell “Glen” Hill, who’s running to keep his job as Prince William County Sheriff, just got the endorsement of Prince William County Commonwealth’s Attorney, Paul Ebert, who has held the position since 1968.

“Over the years, I have worked closely with Sheriff Hill, and I know him to be an outstanding conservator of the peace, said Ebert. “Therefore, I know the citizens of Prince William County, and the cities of Manassas and Manassas Park are well served.”

Hill said he is honored to be endorsed by Ebert because he considers him a friend.

“Paul knows me – he knows my record and what I stand for, and I am sincerely grateful for his endorsement,” said Hill.

“…this endorsement has nothing to do with politics. Paul Ebert has known me since I was a Police Officer, Detective, and Jail Superintendent. Since my election to the Office of the Sheriff in 2003, we continued to work together to provide the best service possible to the citizens of Prince William County, and the cities of Manassas and Manassas Park,” Hill added.

Ebert, a Democrat, is not seeking re-election this year. Republican Mike May is seeking the job.

So are Democrats Tracey Lennox (who is also endorsed by Ebert) and Amy Ashworth are also seeking the job. Both are set to face off in a statewide June 11 Democratic Primary Election.

Hill, a Republican, has held the sheriff’s job since he was first elected in 2003. He’s running for re-election this November on a platform of recruiting, training, and retaining personnel, as well as creating a safer and more professional work environment.
