Peggy Ann Gardner

Peggy Ann Pickett Gardner, 88, of Haymarket, Virginia passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family and beloved dog, Zippy, on the 23rd of April, 2019. Born and raised in Waterfall, Virginia, Peggy grew up surrounded by a loving family in a place of tranquility and joy.

Her lifelong commitment to church began and ends with Antioch Baptist Church, All Day Meetings, church picnics, Sunday School, weddings, funerals…these events created the fabric that has comforted and guided Peggy through the years. And as recent as three weeks ago, Peggy could be seen sitting in the same pew in the church that was her life.

A graduate of Osbourn High School, Peggy and Charles Gardner were married at Antioch Baptist Church on June 3, 1950, raised four children and ran a business in Gainesville. During those years, Peggy was active in various community organizations such as the Gainesville Serendipity Club, the Junior Women’s Club, and the Eastern Star.

Preceded in death by husband, Charles Virgil Gardner, Peggy is survived by her four children, Bonnie Mackenzie (John), Anne Pace (Michael), Patricia Gardner, and Michael Gardner (Katie); Brother-in-law Carl Mason (Mickey) Gardner; ten grandchildren, Heather Gardner, Duncan Pace, Jennifer Hatton, Ben Pace, Michael Gardner II (Kelly); Michelle, Kaylee and Jackson Gardner, Bode and Gia Gardner, and four great-grandchildren, Noah and Peggy Prior, Michael Gardner III, and Henry Gardner.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Antioch Baptist Church, 16513 Waterfall Road, Haymarket, VA 20169.

The family will receive visitors at Antioch Baptist Church Thursday, April 25 at 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM, followed by a service at 12:00 PM and graveside internment at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Waterfall, Virginia following the service.
