Prince William Republicans choose November candidates

WOODBRIDGE — (Press release) In February, the Prince William County Republican Committee decided to use a Party process to select the candidates who will appear on the ballot in November for both Constitutional Offices (Sheriff and Commonwealth’s Attorney) and the Board of County Supervisors.  

They were joined in this decision by Manassas and Manassas Park Republicans for the Constitutional Offices.

Simultaneously, Legislative Committees were formed to select the method of nomination for both House of Delegates Candidates and State Senate Candidates.  Several that affect Prince William County, Manassas, and Manassas Park were decided by the Party process.

Prince William County, Manassas and Manassas Park will hold a Party Canvas (or “Firehouse Primary”) on May 4th, 2019 to select the Republican who will be on the ballot in November.

The following candidates filed to be the Republican nominee and were unopposed.  They will appear on the ballot in November:

  • Sheriff – Glen Hill
  • Brentsville District Supervisor – Jeanine M. Lawson
  • Neabsco District Supervisor – Devinder Singh
  • Occoquan District Supervisor – Ruth Anderson

The following candidates filed in contests where the Republican nominee will be determined in the Firehouse Primary, May 4th:

Commonwealth Attorney

  • Mike May
  • Timothy Olmstead

Board of County Supervisors

  • Chairman Board of County Supervisors:
  • John Gray
  • Marty Nohe
  • Coles Supervisor
  • Yesli Vega
  • Patrick Sowers

Gainesville District Supervisor  

  • Peter Candland
  • David Ray Mizener

Potomac District Supervisor 

  • Douglas T. Taggart
  • Davon Gray

The following House of Delegates nominees were determined by Party Process.  In these contests only one person filed, therefore these five candidates will be on November Ballot:

  • 31st  – D.J. Jordan
  • 50th  – Ian Lovejoy
  • 51st  – Richard Anderson
  • 13th  – Kelly McGinn
  • 52nd  – Maria Martin

The following candidates filed for a State-run Primary but were unopposed and will appear on November’s ballot:

House of Delegates

  • 2nd – Heather Mitchell
  • 40th – Tim Hugo

Senate 

  • 28th Richard Stuart

There is a primary contest in the 13th Senate district.
