Alex and Lila Trejo, of Woodbridge, Va., have been selected as Sigma Corporation of America’s latest #SigmaSuperFan contest winners for their photographic work and dedication to the brand. Sigma, a leading DSLR lens and camera manufacturer, and is currently running a fan appreciation contest that honors winners monthly with a new photography gear.
The Trejos own and operate Studio Trejo, which specializes in wedding and portrait photography. They recently moved to the Washington, DC area, after running a gallery and studio space in Philadelphia.
“[Photography] was one of the first things we found we had in common when we met. It’s really the one thing we always want to do,” they said. “We typically pack our camera bags in the truck everywhere we go ‘just in case’.”
Alex Trejo primarily shoots dreamy landscapes and architecture, while Lila Trejo focuses on fine details, nature and people. When they shoot together, they often point their cameras in the same direction, but get totally different images. When it comes to shooting weddings, Alex Trejo is fantastic at directing and staging portraits, capturing those critical moments, while his wife really loves when people, especially children, “forget the camera” and she can capture candid moments.
They shared with Sigma: “One of the reasons we really like to do an engagement shoot with a couple a month or more before the wedding is that we learn a lot about them and break the ice. On the day of the wedding, we’ve already shared some laughs and we’re not adding to their nerves. We take pride in that many couples have said that we made them feel at ease—that we’re professional, yet relaxed. No one needs more stress on their wedding day!”
The Trejos bought their first Sigma lens, the 24-70mm F2.8 IF EX DG HSM about six years ago. Since then they have added some other Sigma lenses to their collection, including the APO 50-150mm F2.8 EX DC OS HSM and 10-20mm F4-5.6 EX DC (HSM).
Alex and Lila Trejo are among nine winners who will be announced by Sigma Corporation of America through December. Those interested in entering the Sigma SuperFan contest can submit a brief entry form here: https://superfan.sigmaphoto.com/
