Police Called to Stabbing, Homeless Shelter Evacuation

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — In what is proving to be a busy night for police in Woodbridge, a man was stabbed and a homeless shelter evacuated in two separate incidents.

Police said a man was stabbed on Belfry Road, which is in a neighborhood near the intersection of Smoketown and Minnieville roads about 9 p.m. Monday.

Here’s the police statement:

?*INCIDENT: Stabbing, 3400 block of Belfry Ln in Woodbridge. Victim being flown out as a precaution, non-life threatening injuries. Suspects fled on foot. Lookout is for 2 black males, dressed in all dark clothing including masks. One suspect had dreadlocks, the other was armed with a knife. More info will be released when available.

Then just after 9:30 p.m., police said the Volunteers of America Hilda Barg Homeless Shelter on U.S. 1 in Woodbridge was being evacuated after a gas leak was found.

*ADVISORY: The Hilda Barg Homesless Shelter on Jefferson Davis Hwy is being evacuated due to gas leak. Fire department is handling. A temporary shelter is in place.
