DALE CITY, Va. — A new bridge on a stretch of Delaney Road in Dale City is complete.
According to Prince William police, a new, precast concrete slabs replaced the old bridge that crossed a tributary to the Neabsco Creek. The new 25-foot bridge is slightly wider, and brings with it the removal of a four-mile detour that had been in place since early spring, routing cars down Dale Boulevard to Minnieville Road and then back to Delaney Road.
The old bridge was rated structurally deficient by the Virginia Department of Transportation, which in 2009 completed emergency repairs to the bridge, adding new support brackets to make the bridge studier.
Work continues on a replacing a bridge near Blackburn Road and Rippon Boulevard that closed earlier this year after it was found to be structurally deficient. Crews hope to have that bridge reopened by late summer.
