Flags Lowered to Honor Fallen Soldier

Prince William County, Va. — Flags in Prince William County are being flown at half staff today to honor a fallen solider with ties to Woodbridge.

Army Sgt. Alessandro L. Plutino, 28, of New Jersey, was killed by small arms fire in Afghanistan on Aug. 8.

Plutino’s father lives in Woodbridge, said Prince William County spokesman Jason Grant.

Since the solider did not live or attend school in Prince William, his name will not be added to the county’s war memorial outside the government center on Prince William Parkway in Woodbridge.

Plutino, an Army Ranger, died just two weeks prior to coming home to the U.S.
