Dumfries, Va. – After canceling a planned debate with his Republican Primary challenger Tito Munoz was canceled, Jeff Frederick has won several endorsements from well-known Republicans.
Several GOP officials including Delegate Mark Cole (R-Stafford), Prince William County Board of Supervisors Chairman Corey Stewart, former congressman Tom Davis have now voiced their support for Frederick. Delegate Scott Lingamfelter (R-Woodbridge) and and former congressional candidate Keith Fimian have also said they support him.
“I’m endorsing Jeff Frederick in the Tuesday, August 23rd Republican Primary because I worked with Jeff in the House of Delegate for 6 years, and saw him defend our conservative principles in Richmond. Jeff had a perfect voting record from the NRA, the Virginia Society for Human Life and the Family Foundation. We need Jeff Frederick’s strong conservative voice in the Virginia State Senate,” said Cole.
The endorsements come after Frederick and Munoz, who both want to represent the 36th District, were scheduled to debate Friday at the South County Government Center in Mount Vernon. The event was canceled after Frederick said he had to cancel because of scheduling conflicts.
While the two are set to debate on a local TV news program on Friday, the debate’s cancellation comes after Frederick gained attention when he declined to debate Munoz in Spanish.
“This week, both Mr. Munoz and Jeff will appear together at The Fairfax Senior Community in Lorton on Wednesday and will be debating Friday on NewsTalk. If any more debate requests come up at the last second, we will still try to squeeze them in the final days of the primary campaign,” said Frederick Campaign Manager Mick Bransfield.
As for his endorsement from Fimian, Frederick called him a strong business leader who’s experienced many of the same problems he has.
“My small technology company is not as large as Keith’s nationwide inspection management business, but we both share many of the same problems. Excessive regulation at all levels of government, confiscatory tax policies and the looming uncertainty created by government interference in the free markets make it harder for our businesses to grow, create jobs and employ more people,” said Frederick.
Frederick is the founder of the technology consulting firm GSX Strategies.
Voters will go to the polls one week from today to decide if Frederick or Munoz will be the Republican nominee for the district. The winner will face incumbent Democrat Toddy Puller.
Virginia’s 36th Senate District extends from Mount Vernon to portions of Stafford County.
