Fairfax County, Va. –– A man walking to the Franconia-Springfield Metro station Christmas Eve was robbed at gunpoint.
Police said the 41-year-old victim from New York was walking about 3 p.m. in the 6800 block of Frontier Drive, outside the transit station near Springfield Mall, when it happened.
As he was walking, the victim saw three men sitting in a newer model, light gray Dodge pick-up. One of the inside the truck got out, approached him, pulled out a handgun and then demanded money from the victim.
He complied, and the robber got back in the truck and fled the scene, said Fairfax County police spokesman Eddy Azcarate.
The robber was described as Hispanic, had pox on his face, and stood 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighed 180 to 210 pounds, and wore a gray hoodie and a black skull cap.
Police ask pedestrians to remain vigilant while walking in the area.
