Springfield, Va. –– A Washington man was shot a party Saturday night and now a Lorton man faces charges.
Police were called at 8:30 p.m. to the Courtyard Marriot hotel, at 6710 Commerce Street in Springfield, after shots had been fired.
When they arrived, they found a 21-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds.
The victim was taken to a local hospital where he remained in critical condition Monday, a Fairfax County police spokesman said.
An investigation began following the shooting, and police learned the party had been advertised on Facebook.com, but the party organizers would not allow the alleged gunman entry to the party.
An altercation ensued in front of the hotel, and that’s when the victim was shot, police said.
William C. Richards, 18, of 7624 Sheffield Village Lane in Lorton, is charged with malicious wounding and was jailed, according to police.
He was arrested at a friend’s home in Alexandria on Sunday morning.
