Man found at Metro station shot himself

Fairfax County, Va. –– Police in Fairfax County say a man who was found in the parking lot of a Metro station earlier this month suffering a gunshot wound shot himself.

The 32-year-old victim was found by police in Alexandria at 10:24 p.m. Oct. 4, at the Huntington Station on Metro’s Yellow line, suffering a gunshot wound to his lower body, police said.

As the investigation wore on into the following day, police said they took the man to a local hospital and that his injuries were not life-threatening.

Police do not believe his actions were suspicious, according to a police statement released Tuesday.

Police were originally tipped off about the man after they received a phone call from a woman who told them about a family member who failed to meet her at the Metro station, after they had previously agreed to meet, said police.

No charges have been filed in the incident.
