FAIRFAX COUNTY Va. — Thefts of landscaping equipment in the Newington area has been on the rise in recent weeks.
Now police and the presidents of two landscaping companies, East Coast Professional Landscaping and GMI Professional Landscaping Services, will speak to the public at noon, asking whoever is stealing their equipment to stop.
They’ll speak at 7819 Loisdale Road in Newington.
Since February, there have been 75 reports of thefts of various pieces of landscaping equipment in that area, police said.
It’s estimated the stolen equipment has cost the victim businesses about $500,000, according to Fairfax police.
